Arrest Made in Fatal Cactus Street Crash

On Nov. 24, 2024, at approximately 3:27 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash near Cactus Street and Hayward Drive. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and flipped onto its side.
The driver and front-seat passenger were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Unfortunately, both rear-seat passengers were declared deceased at the scene.
After a thorough investigation, detectives determined there was probable cause to charge the driver, Christopher Congdon, with two counts of Vehicular Homicide and two counts of DUI Manslaughter. Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested Congdon at his residence, and he remains in the Clay County Jail.
The Tallahassee Police Department reminds everyone to never drive under the influence.
